The European Commission has approved the revision of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Program, supplementing the budget with €19.96 million (Interreg funds) to include Armenia as a participating state in the Program, and to introduce a new priority: A Competent and Resilient Region.

Following this increase, the total budget of the Program becomes €94,456,673, of which €85,010,556 represents the contribution from EU funds, and €9,445,617 is the national co-financing of participating states.

The new priority included in the Program (A Competent and Resilient Region) belongs to Interreg Specific Objective 1 - Better governance in cooperation and aims to contribute to:

  • supporting the development of capacities and training of public authorities for the efficient provision of public services;
  • exchanging knowledge and best practices between public authorities and civil society actors on improving citizens' access to information and promoting the participation (including youth) in decision-making;
  • developing IT&C tools and/or digital solutions that allow citizens to contribute to local and regional strategies and provide suggestions for improving policies;
  • capacity-building actions for stakeholders on accessing available funds and applying within calls for projects related to the blue economy.
