A delegation from the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration (MDLPA) participated in the evaluation of Romania by the Regional Development Policy Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Romanian delegation was led by Marcel-Alexandru Stoica, State Secretary in the MDLPA, and the chairman of the working group established within the MDLPA for preparing Romania's OECD accession process. The delegation included the ambassador in charge of Romania's OECD accession process, Adrian Vierița, as well as directors and experts from the MDLPA.
Using the draft report prepared by the OECD Secretariat, which evaluates Romania's legislation, policies, and practices in regional development from the perspective of the Organisation's tools, State Secretary Stoica extensively presented Romania's trends and challenges in regional development and territorial planning, as well as the efforts made to align with the Organisation's best practices and legal instruments.
The Romanian official reiterated the country's commitment to OECD accession, emphasizing the importance of using the process as an additional vector for improving public policies in regional development and continuing efforts to modernize internal policies and practices in this sector.
OECD member state representatives welcomed Romania's intervention, expressing appreciation for the efforts to align with OECD standards, including in managing common challenges in regional development.
