Adrian-Ioan Veștea, the Minister of Development, Public Works, and Administration, inspected the progress of some projects funded by the ministry in the city of Constanța.
The first visited site was the location where the Multipurpose Hall is being constructed, a project financed by MDLPA through the National Investment Company.
The project, worth 96,056,636.38 lei, includes the construction of a multifunctional playing field (suitable for handball, basketball, and volleyball), a spectator area with a total capacity of 6,100 seats, training rooms, medical cabinets, a conference hall, a TV studio, commercial spaces (cafes, sport shops), as well as 550 parking spaces for cars and 15 for buses.
"The project, currently about 60% completed, complies with the standards of relevant sports federations regarding the size of the playing surface and the number of seats. It will be able to host national, European, and even world-level handball, basketball, and volleyball competitions," said the Minister of Development.
The second objective was the Casino in Constanța, which is undergoing consolidation and restoration. The physical progress of the works is currently around 57%.
"The completed rehabilitation works so far highlight the uniqueness and architectural elegance of this beautiful Art Nouveau-style building, and we have conveyed to the constructors that our ultimate goal is to have high-quality and durable works. We want a monument that will endure over the years and become a historical, cultural, and tourist landmark of Romania," emphasized Minister Veștea.
On the same day, the minister attended the "Arena de 10" event, which marks the beginning of the project for the new "Gheorghe Hagi" Stadium in Constanța. The Ministry of Development, through the National Investment Company, finances the construction of a new multifunctional sports complex with a football arena that will meet the requirements of UEFA Category IV. The project, with an estimated value of 480,490,480 lei, will cover an area of 63,857 square meters and will have a capacity of over 18,000 seats.
"This stadium, named after one of the greatest products of Constanța sports of all time - Gheorghe Hagi, has been witness to exceptional sports and cultural events. We will always cherish memories of fantastic matches held here, but we look forward to the future with optimism and await the moment when Constanța will benefit from an ultra-modern arena. This stadium will provide an additional chance for high-performance sports in the Constanța county, and surely, it will continue to write history in Romanian football," stated Minister Adrian-Ioan Veștea.
