Mr. Adrian-Ioan Veștea, the Minister of Development, Public Works, and Administration, met today at the ministry's headquarters with H.E. Mr. Victor Chirilă, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania, and Mr. Andrei Spînu, the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova.
The main topics of discussion focused on local development programs, urban and housing policies, aligning construction legislation with European standards, cooperation between the two countries within European territorial cooperation programs, and the continuous training process in public administration.
"The bilateral relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova have gained unprecedented scope, openness, and depth in recent years. Currently, there is an active interinstitutional dialogue that materializes through fruitful collaborations at the sectoral level.
In terms of bilateral technical assistance, the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration has expressed its readiness to send two experts to Chisinau this autumn for the program of expertise transfer in European affairs," stated Minister Veștea.
Another topic discussed was the support provided by the Romanian Government, through the Ministry of Development, to the Republic of Moldova in accordance with the Agreement on the implementation of the technical and financial assistance program worth 100 million euros in non-reimbursable financial aid.
In this context, the Romanian Minister of Development reiterated that in June of this year, the budget of MDLPA was increased by 6.2 million euros from the Government's budget reserve fund to finance 36 projects in the Republic of Moldova under the "European Village - Public Works and Infrastructure" project, targeting water supply, sewage, and aqueduct systems.
At the end of the meeting, the officials reaffirmed the exceptional nature of the relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, expressing their confidence that the two states will remain partners in the development and promotion of common initiatives in the social and economic sphere for the benefit of their citizens.
