Reveal Marketing Research conducted a representative national study to measure the perceptions and behaviors of Romanians regarding environmental issues in the construction sector, especially in the context of excessive consumption of the planet's natural resources, which threatens the future of the next generations.

Here are some key findings from the study:

  • 84% of Romanians believe that innovation and modernity provide significant opportunities for addressing environmental issues.
  • 7 out of 10 Romanians would trust building a house with the most sustainable masonry material.
  • The most significant environmental issues in construction that influence the quality of life, as perceived by the respondents, are building energy efficiency (76%) and improper waste disposal from construction (69%).
  • Romanians are increasingly open to and have confidence in sustainable construction materials.
  • Sustainable construction is considered essential for protecting the environment, reducing long-term costs, and improving human quality of life.
  • Sustainable construction materials, particularly those defined as "environmentally friendly," are becoming increasingly significant.
  • Trust among Romanians in building with the most sustainable masonry material has increased compared to the previous year, reaching 72%.
  • The attributes of sustainability are associated with Block Cores (BCA), and a significant percentage of construction specialists prefer this material due to its durability and ecological characteristics.

The study reflects a significant concern and growing awareness among the public about environmental issues in the construction sector, emphasizing the importance of sustainable construction practices. Romanians aspire to live in sustainable and energy-efficient houses that are environmentally friendly and provide long-term cost savings.

In the current context, over 60% of Romanians express major concerns about all construction-related issues that affect their quality of life, with building energy efficiency (76%) and improper construction waste disposal (69%) being their main concerns.

Regarding the influence of the construction process on the environment, 79% of Romanians believe that promoting environmentally-friendly products should be a priority. Furthermore, 78% perceive construction companies as responsible for their carbon footprint, and 77% believe that all companies should disclose the environmental harm they cause.

Those who have built or are in the process of building a house consider sustainability to be as important as the comfort of the house (86% vs. 77% of the total sample).

Sustainable construction practices help conserve natural resources and create a healthy and comfortable environment for residents. Most construction specialists recommend BCA as the masonry material for clients seeking a sustainable, modern, and energy-efficient house.
