THE NATIONAL COMPANY FOR ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT S.A. in partnership with Bihor County, as the Beneficiary of the funding, and THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE, as the INTERMEDIATE BODY for TRANSPORT, have agreed to conclude Financing Contract no. 258/02.10.2023 for the project "BEIUS BYPASS ROAD," in order to grant non-repayable funding allocated through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020, under Priority Axis 1 - Development of a quality, sustainable and efficient multimodal transport system OS 2.2 Call for projects for ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT - new investment projects, Operation - Increasing accessibility to areas with limited connectivity to the TEN-T road infrastructure.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the mobility of the population, goods, and services in order to stimulate sustainable economic development by streamlining traffic and relieving congestion in transit areas. The implementation of the project will achieve the following goals:
• Increased accessibility for the population and goods to workplaces.
• Improved mobility of the population and goods - by reducing travel time due to increased travel speed and, consequently, the time allocated to the transport of goods and passengers.
• Reduced transportation costs - by implementing this project, drivers will save time and energy, reduce fuel and vehicle maintenance expenses.
• Increased traffic safety - by streamlining traffic.
• Facilitating inter-regional cooperation, attracting domestic and foreign investments, increasing the competitiveness of enterprises/companies, workforce mobility, and, as a result, faster regional development and, ultimately, development in Romania.
The specific objective of the project is the construction of a bypass road (new road) with a length of 7.33 km, with a 2x1 lane profile in each direction, the construction of 3 roundabouts, the construction of 4 bridges, and the creation of 3 overpasses.
The total value of the project is 403,106,936.29 lei, and it will be financed through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 as follows: 85% contribution from the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund - 156,250,713.48 lei, 15% self-contribution - 27,573,655.32 lei, with the difference to the total project value representing ineligible expenses, including VAT.
