Employees Increasingly Value Work-Life Balance, with the Office Remaining a Key Element

Employees are becoming increasingly concerned with maintaining a balance between their work and personal lives, and the office remains a central element in this regard.

For more than half of them (55%), the ideal office must offer a “zen” atmosphere, according to a nationwide survey conducted by Genesis Property, one of the leading owners of office buildings in Romania, among 1,175 respondents.

At the same time, 23% of respondents would prefer a highly technologized and digitalized office that simplifies their tasks, while 15% believe the ideal way of working is in a “nomad” office, allowing them to work from anywhere.

Moreover, 38% would like a “food truck” concept office, providing flexible, diverse, and easily customizable work options according to their needs. Meanwhile, 26% would prefer the “all you can eat” concept — an office offering unlimited resources and benefits.

Nearly 20% lean toward a “fine dining” office, featuring premium experiences and facilities, while 17% would opt for standard, fast, and efficient “fast food” style solutions, even if they are not necessarily the healthiest for their personal and professional balance.

The way people work has changed significantly, placing greater emphasis on wellbeing and flexibility. These needs are increasingly reflected in their expectations from both their offices and their employers.

Thus, the importance of the office in 2025 is highlighted by the large proportion (almost 67%) of employees who say that the design and facilities of their office greatly or very greatly influence their productivity and job satisfaction.

At the same time, over 36% of employees would like more benefits offered by their employer, almost 30% want more ergonomic and customized workspaces, and more than a quarter are asking for dedicated relaxation areas.

Regarding their expectations from their employers, over 30% seek more substantial non-salary benefits, while nearly 16% are requesting better facilities in their workspaces.

As for the ideal work schedule in 2025, almost 34% say they would prefer working entirely from the office, nearly 25% would like to work from the office 3–4 days a week, while less than 24% would opt for full remote work.

Genesis Property is committed to completing the final phase of YUNITY Park in the long term — a visionary campus created by Liviu Tudor that redefines the office experience through a blend of facilities, experiences, and communities.

Designed to transform the way employees work and live, the campus features an open-air amphitheater with 1,500 seats, two kilometers of pedestrian walkways, cascading water mirrors, an urban forest, and creative spaces for meetings.

The first two phases, completed in 2023, benefited from an investment of over €30 million. The third phase, the Innovation Center, will be inaugurated this year following a €20 million investment.
