When a supplier stops the entire project

There are projects that progress steadily, until the moment everything stops. Not because of a major error. But because of a dependency.

In construction, the supply chain is complex, but often concentrated. Certain materials, equipment, or technical solutions depend on a single supplier or a limited number of options.

When that point fails, the entire project slows down or comes to a halt.

The problem is not the lack of theoretical alternatives, but the difficulty of integrating them quickly. Changing a supplier involves recalculations, reauthorizations, design adjustments, and sometimes contractual renegotiations.

Lost time is not linear. It is multiplied.

This vulnerability is rarely visible in the planning phase. It becomes evident only during execution, when flexibility is already limited.

For developers, risk management no longer means only cost control, but also diversification of sources. For contractors, it means anticipation and redundancy.

Because, in a system where each stage depends on the other, a single weak point can become decisive.

Not the largest one. But the most exposed.
