Romania: Construction Material Prices Show Signs of Stabilization
According to a report published by Eurostat in September 2025, Romania recorded a modest +1.8% increase in construction material prices compared with the same period in 2024, suggesting a trend toward stabilization. The lowest increases were seen in cement (+0.9%) and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC, +1.2%), while reinforcing steel registered a sharper +4.5% rise, driven by international raw material fluctuations.
The composite construction price index calculated by INS (National Institute of Statistics) points to a nationwide plateau in costs. However, major distributors warn of a possible re-acceleration in Q4 2025, linked to expected hikes in electricity and transport tariffs.
Local producers are calling for fiscal support measures, including subsidies for energy consumption in the production of heavy materials and prefabricated elements. Without targeted interventions, stakeholders caution that the fragile stabilization may not hold.
