Building Information Modeling (BIM) – A Key Trend in Romania’s Construction Industry
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is becoming increasingly present in Romania’s construction industry, emerging as one of the main trends transforming the way projects are developed. Through BIM, designers, architects, and builders collaborate on a unified digital platform, which reduces errors and optimizes costs.
According to a European Commission report, the use of BIM can reduce project costs by up to 20%, by eliminating overlaps between specialties and enabling more accurate resource planning. In Romania, BIM adoption is still in its early stages, but major construction companies and real estate developers have already begun to integrate this standard into their projects.
The key benefits include complete traceability of the construction process, integration of energy efficiency solutions, and improved financial predictability. It is estimated that by 2030, at least 50% of public projects will require the use of BIM as a mandatory standard, in line with European directives.
