The construction sector is beginning to close the gap with other industries in terms of digitalization, and construction sites are becoming increasingly technology-driven. The use of management software, BIM models, and mobile applications is changing the way construction projects are planned, executed, and monitored.

More and more companies are adopting digital solutions for cost tracking, materials management, and coordination of on-site teams. Real-time access to data reduces errors, delays, and resource waste—critical aspects in a context marked by rising costs and a shortage of skilled labor.

In Romania, the digitalization of construction sites remains uneven. Large projects, especially those financed with European funds, are integrating modern technologies more rapidly, while small and medium-sized companies face difficulties related to costs and a lack of digital skills. Nevertheless, pressure for efficiency and transparency is driving the gradual adoption of these solutions.

The benefits are not limited to the execution phase alone. The data collected can later be used for maintenance, rehabilitation, or expansion, contributing to better management of the building life cycle.

Digitalization is no longer an option, but a necessity for the competitiveness of the construction sector. Companies that invest early in technology increase their chances of adapting in an increasingly complex and demanding market.
