Digital transformation in the construction sector is no longer an option — it has become a necessity. According to the European Commission (2024), digitalizing construction processes can reduce material losses by up to 25% and execution delays by 20%. Technologies range from project management platforms to mobile applications that monitor material consumption, equipment scheduling, and workforce allocation.

In Romania, data from INS and the Ministry of Development (MDRAP) show that only 14% of construction companies currently use integrated digital applications, while over 60% of construction projects lack real-time digital monitoring. Through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), funds have been allocated for digitalizing administrative processes and supporting the adoption of BIM (Building Information Modeling), aimed at reducing design and execution errors.

BIM enables digital simulation of a building’s entire life cycle — from design to demolition — providing an integrated overview and greater control over budgets and timelines. Under MDRAP Order No. 123/2024, the use of BIM is encouraged for all major public projects, with a transition period until 2027.

Adopting these technologies generates direct cost savings, traceability in execution, reduced material waste, and improved communication among all stakeholders. The future of construction is digital, and the ability to adapt will define which players remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
