The digitalization of construction sites represents a strategic direction for the construction industry, contributing to increased productivity and reduced costs. Among the technologies increasingly used are drones for monitoring project progress, 3D printers for concrete elements, and integrated planning software.
According to a McKinsey report, the adoption of digital technologies on construction sites can reduce execution time by 15–20% and costs by up to 10%. In Romania, large construction companies have started to implement ERP systems and BIM platforms, which enable centralized project management.
A concrete example is the use of IoT sensors to monitor environmental conditions and the quality of poured concrete, ensuring compliance with technical standards. In addition, augmented and virtual reality are being used for worker training and work stage simulations.
In the long term, the digitalization of construction sites will help reduce dependence on manual labor and increase worker safety, strengthening the competitiveness of Romanian companies on the European market.
