In 2024, 46.9% of the EU’s Net Electricity Generation Came from Renewable Energy Sources
According to the latest Eurostat report, 46.9% of the European Union’s net electricity generation in 2024 originated from renewable energy sources.
Among EU member states, Denmark recorded the highest share of renewables in net electricity generation, reaching 88.4%, largely driven by wind energy. It was followed by Portugal with 87.5% (mainly wind and hydro) and Croatia with 73.7% (primarily hydro).
The lowest shares of renewable sources were found in Luxembourg (5.1%), Malta (15.1%), and the Czech Republic (15.9%).
