Romania’s Residential Solar Panel Market Sees Rapid Growth
Romania’s residential solar panel market has experienced accelerated growth over the past two years, driven by government programs and rising demand for green energy solutions. According to the Environmental Fund Administration, over 250 MW of household photovoltaic capacity was installed in 2024.
Integrating solar panels into new buildings meets nZEB requirements and can reduce energy bills by up to 80%. The installation cost for a 5 kW residential system ranges from RON 20,000 to RON 28,000, depending on the equipment type and project complexity.
The current trend is toward hybrid systems with battery storage, increasing household energy autonomy. Real estate developers are increasingly incorporating such solutions into residential projects, particularly in peri-urban areas.
In the medium term, the market is expected to grow by more than 15% annually, supported by falling equipment prices and the diversification of financing options.
