At the initiative of the Senate's Environment Committee of Romania, a new round of consultations was held on the law that is expected to regulate construction and demolition waste.

Ms. Irina Forgo, Director of FPSC, represented the federation and emphasized the importance of this legislative act, eagerly awaited by the sector, to result from genuine consultations with the business environment and representative organizations. This ensures that the provisions are practical and take into account the available infrastructure, the time and cost implications for constructors, the encouragement of operators to use recycled materials, and the existence or absence of technical agreements for these materials, among other factors. Ms. Forgo also mentioned that a 30-day entry into force period for the legislative act is not realistic, and the law should clearly stipulate that its provisions do not apply to ongoing projects.

Representatives of construction firms, members of PSC, also participated on behalf of FPSC. Discussions will continue so that, with the support of the Ministry of Environment, a legislative act dedicated to this type of waste will be issued by the middle of this year.
