National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration S.A. and Ministry of Transport Secure Funding for Brănești Overpass Project

The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration S.A. (CNAIR), as the Beneficiary of the funding, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as the coordinator of reforms and/or investments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), concluded, on December 14, 2023, the Financing Contract No. 46 for the project titled:

"Road Overpass over the Railway, Connecting Road, and Access Arrangement to/from DN3, Brănești Commune, Ilfov County"

This project is funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Pillar 1 – Transition to a Green Economy, Component C4 – Sustainable Transport, Reform R1 – Sustainable Transport, Decarbonization and Road Safety / Investment I3 – Development of Sustainable Road Infrastructure on the TEN-T Network, Road Pricing, Traffic Management, and Road Safety.

General Objective of the Project:

Construction of a road overpass over the railway, connecting road, and access arrangement to/from DN3, Brănești Commune, Ilfov County.

Specific Objectives:

• Ensuring reliable and uninterrupted long-distance travel, as well as commuter connections, by reducing travel times and mitigating the impact of road incidents.
• Improving traffic safety conditions and reducing vehicle operating costs.
• Achieving the expected operational results with minimum capital expenditure and justified maintenance and operating costs.

Project Description:

The Brănești Municipality has requested CNAIR’s support in securing funding for the implementation of Phase 2: “Road Overpass over the Railway, Connecting Road, and Access Arrangement to/from DN3, Brănești Commune, Ilfov County.”

The overpass and connecting road will be located on Industriilor III Street, within the built-up area of Brănești, linking DN3 National Road and Gării Street.

The project aims to ease road traffic by eliminating waiting times at the railway barrier and to ensure a direct connection between DN3 and Motorway A2.

Project Value:

According to Financing Contract No. 46/14.12.2023, the total project value is 81,215,865.75 lei, of which:

• 22,866,977.41 lei are European funds from NRRP,
• 45,481,742.89 lei represent the national contribution,
• and 12,867,145.45 lei correspond to VAT.
