Glass is an increasingly used material in modern construction, both for residential buildings and for commercial projects. Thanks to technological advances, glass has become a structural element, not just a decorative one, contributing to energy efficiency and architectural aesthetics.

According to Glass for Europe data, the architectural glass market in Romania grew by 9% in 2024, reaching a value of approximately €450 million. The most in-demand products are Low-E coated insulating glass, tempered glass, and laminated glass, used for facades, roofs, and interior partitions.

Recent innovations include photovoltaic glass, which integrates transparent solar cells, and smart glass, capable of adjusting its opacity depending on light intensity. These solutions help reduce energy consumption and create more comfortable spaces for users.

Prices vary considerably: from 200 lei/m² for simple tempered glass to over 800 lei/m² for photovoltaic glass. In the long term, the use of smart glass and energy-integrated solutions is expected to become standard in major projects in Romania.
