Romania’s Construction Works Up 4.2% in Q2 2025
According to the latest data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the volume of construction works increased by 4.2% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. The highest growth was recorded in the civil engineering sector (+6.7%), followed by non-residential buildings (+3.5%) and residential buildings (+2.1%).
By type of construction work, maintenance and current repairs rose by 5.4%, while capital repairs increased by 3.1%. New construction continues to dominate the market, accounting for over 58% of the total construction volume recorded in Q2 2025.
The Bucharest–Ilfov region remains the leader in terms of construction activity, but notable growth was also seen in the North-West and Central regions, particularly in infrastructure projects.
INS highlights that this positive trend is supported by public investments and projects financed through EU funds and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), but warns of potential slowdowns in the second half of the year due to rising material and labor costs.
