March 2025: Increase in Building Permits for Residential Buildings

In March 2025, a total of 3,095 building permits were issued for residential buildings, marking an 18.3% increase compared to February 2025, and a 1.9% increase compared to March 2024.

In the first quarter of 2025, 7,630 building permits for residential buildings were issued, reflecting a 2.8% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024.

March 2025 vs. February 2025

In March 2025, 3,095 building permits for residential buildings were issued, an increase of 478 permits compared to the previous month. The total usable area authorized was 712,017 square meters, up 18.4% from February. Of the total residential building permits issued, 69.4% were for rural areas.

Territorially, the increase in residential building permits was recorded in the following development regions:

• South-Muntenia (+157 permits)
• North-East (+134)
• South-West Oltenia (+72)
• North-West (+66)
• Bucharest-Ilfov (+48)
• South-East (+34)

Decreases were recorded in:

• West (-31 permits)
• Centre (-2)

Non-Residential Buildings

In March 2025, 544 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings, up 7.1% compared to February 2025. However, the total usable area authorized decreased by 13.3%, to 240,221 square meters, a decline of 36,845 square meters from the previous month.

Regionally, this decrease in usable area was reflected in:

• North-West (-67,235 sqm)
• Centre (-37,874 sqm)

Increases were recorded in the following development regions:

• Bucharest-Ilfov (+17,968)
