Residential and Non-Residential Building Permits Issued – February 2025
In February 2025, a total of 2,617 building permits were issued for residential buildings in Romania, representing an increase of 36.4% compared to January 2025, and a 2.4% rise over February 2024.
Between January 1 and February 28, 2025, a total of 4,535 permits were issued for residential buildings, marking a 3.4% increase compared to the same period of the previous year (January 1 – February 29, 2024).

In February 2025, authorities issued 2,617 permits for residential buildings, with a total usable floor area of 601,208 square meters, up 28.2% from January. Of these permits, 68.5% were issued for buildings in rural areas.
Compared to the previous month, February saw an increase of 699 permits for residential buildings, with growth recorded across all development regions:
Regarding non-residential buildings, a total of 508 building permits were issued in February 2025, up 47.2% compared to January, while the total usable floor area decreased by 23.9%, reaching 277,066 square meters.
This translates to a decrease of 86,853 square meters in usable area compared to the previous month, with the decline observed in the following development regions:

In comparison to February 2024, February 2025 recorded a 2.4% increase in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings, though the total usable floor area fell by 5.4%.
