Building Permits Issued in February 2025

In February 2025, 2,617 building permits for residential buildings were issued, marking an increase of 36.4% compared to January 2025 and 2.4% higher than in February 2024.

January–February 2025 Compared to the Same Period of 2024

Between 1 January and 28 February 2025, a total of 4,535 building permits for residential buildings were issued, reflecting a 3.4% increase compared to the period 1 January – 29 February 2024.

February 2025 Compared to January 2025

In February 2025, 2,617 building permits for residential buildings were issued (+36.4% compared to January 2025), covering a total usable floor area of 601,208 square meters (+28.2%).

Of the total residential building permits, 68.5% were issued for rural areas. The month of February 2025 saw a notable increase in the number of building permits for residential buildings compared to the previous month (+699 permits).

Regional Distribution

This growth was observed across all development regions:

  • North-West: +143 permits
  • West and Center: +106 each
  • South-East: +84
  • Bucharest-Ilfov: +74
  • South-Muntenia: +73
  • North-East: +60
  • South-West Oltenia: +53

Non-Residential Buildings

In February 2025, 508 building permits for non-residential buildings were issued, a 47.2% increase compared to January 2025. However, the total usable floor area decreased by 23.9%, amounting to 277,066 square meters.

Compared to the previous month, there was a decline in usable floor area for non-residential building permits, down by 86,853 square meters.

Regional Distribution

This decrease in floor area was recorded in the following development regions:

  • South-West Oltenia: -178,876 sqm
  • South-East: -16,565 sqm
  • North-East: -5,983 sqm

In contrast, increases were registered in the following regions:

  • North-West: +47,553 sqm
  • Center: +29,204 sqm
  • Bucharest-Ilfov: +18,446 sqm
  • West: +10,542 sqm
  • South-Muntenia: +8,826 sqm
