In January 2024, 1,829 building permits were issued for residential buildings (-12.0% compared to January 2023), with a total usable area of 421,032 sqm (-24.8%). Of the total building permits for residential buildings, 70.1% are for the rural area.

In January 2024, there is a decrease in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-250 permits) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. In terms of territory, this decrease is reflected in the following development regions:

Center (-100 permits), South-Muntenia (-86), North-West (-75), Bucharest-Ilfov (-26) and South-West Oltenia (-7). Increases were registered in the following development regions: South-East (+22 authorizations), West (+16) and North-East (+6).

In January 2024, 371 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings (-8.2% compared to January 2023), in a total useful area of 153,797 sqm (-32.5%).

Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, in the month of January 2024 there was a decrease in the usable area of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-74088 sq m).

In territorial profile, this decrease is reflected in the following development regions: Center (35223 sqm), North-West (-33430), Bucharest-Ilfov (-29727), West (-4531) and North-East (-2559).
