Artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally transforming the construction industry, enabling designers and engineers to optimize structures, reduce risks, and prevent errors before execution. Machine learning algorithms are used to analyze millions of variables and to identify more efficient and cost-effective structural solutions.

A study conducted by McKinsey & Company shows that integrating AI into building design can reduce construction costs by 10–15% and accelerate planning processes by up to 50%. In addition, AI is used for analyzing data collected from construction sites, allowing managers to anticipate issues related to supply or safety.

On the European market, AI-assisted design platforms are already implemented in major infrastructure projects, and Romania is following this trend, with the first initiatives in urban development and transport infrastructure.

The use of AI will become a mandatory standard for complex projects, especially in the context of energy efficiency and sustainability requirements. As a result, the construction industry will undergo an accelerated digital transformation, in which technological skills will be just as important as engineering expertise.
