In 2025, the local construction materials industry is repositioning itself as a key player in the transition toward sustainability and energy autonomy. Producers of cement, concrete, AAC blocks, and insulating materials are investing in emission-reduction technologies and circular recycling.

According to a report by the Romanian Construction Materials Producers Association, more than 60% of domestic factories already use alternative fuels and have implemented dust and particle capture systems.

The development of bio-composite materials based on hemp, lime, or sawdust is gaining ground, especially in the field of residential construction or heritage restoration. At the same time, support provided through the state aid scheme for retooling has enabled the modernization of production lines in 17 major facilities nationwide.

This trend supports not only the local economy, but also the objectives of reducing imports and decarbonizing the construction sector by 2030.
