The Ministry of Development allocates over 159 million lei for the consolidation of buildings at seismic risk and the modernization of some educational institutions

The Ministry of Development has announced the allocation of 159,066,028.65 lei for the seismic strengthening, modernization, and rehabilitation of 19 investment objectives in Romania. The funding is provided through the National Program for the Consolidation of Buildings with High Seismic Risk and the National Investment Program “Safe and Healthy Schools,” according to the Minister of Development, Cseke Attila.

Among the projects included in this stage of financing is the seismic strengthening and rehabilitation of the “Trivale” Sports Hall in Pitești, for which 27,249,490.12 lei have been allocated. In addition, the Neamț County Council will receive 3,508,088.42 lei for works aimed at consolidating, rehabilitating, and expanding the Natural Sciences Museum.

Another important project concerns the seismic strengthening and safety works for residential buildings in Vișeu de Sus (Maramureș County), for which funds amounting to 12,063,249.43 lei have been allocated.

In Neamț County, the “Mihail Sadoveanu” High School in the commune of Borca, a historic monument building, will benefit from financing of 11,239,074.03 lei for energy efficiency improvements and seismic strengthening works. At the same time, the Secondary School in the commune of Mădulari (Vâlcea County) will undergo integrated rehabilitation through funding amounting to 13,425,724.40 lei.

Through the National Program for the Consolidation of Buildings with High Seismic Risk, total funding of 81,214,064.24 lei has been approved for eight investment objectives, including the consolidation of medical dispensaries in Grebănu (Buzău County), Topraisar (Constanța County), and Runcu Mare (Olt County).

At the same time, through the “Safe and Healthy Schools” program, the Ministry of Development is allocating 77,851,964.41 lei for the consolidation and modernization of several educational institutions. The investments include the construction of new buildings for the “Nicolae Simonide” Secondary School in Pitești, the modernization of Zmeu Secondary School in the commune of Lungani (Iași County), the renovation of the Primary School in Chiheru de Jos (Mureș County), as well as the construction of new school units in Poienești (Vaslui County) and Lespezi (Iași County).

Additionally, several kindergartens in the counties of Teleorman, Cluj, Brașov, and Argeș will be consolidated or reconstructed within the framework of the program aimed at improving the safety of educational infrastructure.

Authorities emphasize that these investments aim both to increase the safety of buildings in the event of earthquakes and to improve conditions for students, teachers, and local communities.
