Bypass Project for the Municipality of Sfântu Gheorghe

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, acting as the Intermediate Body for Transport, and the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration S.A. (CNAIR), acting as the Beneficiary, have implemented the project entitled “Bypass of the Municipality of Sfântu Gheorghe.”

This project is co-financed by the European Union (EU) through the European Regional Development Fund under the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014–2020, within Priority Axis 2: Development of a quality, sustainable, and efficient multimodal transport system, Specific Objective 2.1: Project Call for the Development of Road Infrastructure – Support for the Preparation of Investment Projects.

General Objective

The general objective of the project is to improve Romania’s economic competitiveness by developing transport infrastructure that facilitates economic integration within the EU, thereby contributing to the development of the internal market and creating the conditions for increased investment, promoting sustainable transport, and enhancing cohesion within the European road network.

Project Purpose

The project aims to develop an updated feasibility study that will lead to the construction of a bypass road around the Municipality of Sfântu Gheorghe, in order to ensure the basic transport infrastructure needed to meet increasing transport demand.

Expected Results

  • Completion of the Feasibility Study
  • Project Design for obtaining the Construction Authorization
  • Issuance of the Construction Authorization

Total Project Value

The total value of the project is 1,329,004.94 lei, financed as follows:

  • 85% European Union contribution from the European Regional Development Fund: 953,934.96 lei
  • 15% national co-financing: 168,341.47 lei
