The construction materials market in Romania is going through an adjustment period, influenced by both domestic and international economic developments. According to Eurostat and INS data, in the first half of 2025, the average prices of construction materials increased by approximately 6% compared to the same period in 2024.

The largest increases were recorded for: rebar steel (+9%), wood-based products (+8%), and thermal insulation materials (+7%). In contrast, cement prices remained relatively stable (+2%), while brick prices saw a moderate increase (+3%).

The main factors driving these trends include: energy costs, fluctuations in the international raw materials market, transportation, and domestic demand. Additionally, the implementation of the new nZEB energy standards is stimulating demand for high-performance materials, which may create further upward pressure on prices.

Forecasts for the second half of 2025 indicate an average annual growth of 5–7%, with possible adjustments in segments where demand is decreasing, such as interior finishes. Builders are advised to negotiate medium-term contracts with suppliers and to explore opportunities for direct purchases from manufacturers to mitigate the impact of price increases.
