The integration of photovoltaic systems into new buildings is becoming standard practice in peri-urban areas. According to data from the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), the number of prosumers in Romania exceeded 120,000 in 2025, with 60% located in extended urban zones.
In new residential construction, solar panels are integrated directly into the execution project and, in some cases, become architectural elements. Duplexes and single-family houses with south-facing roofs achieve the highest energy performance.
Through the Casa Verde Fotovoltaice programme, the Environmental Fund Administration (AFM) approved funding for more than 60,000 projects in 2024, most of them in localities surrounding major cities.
Authorised installers report a 40% increase in demand in this segment, and developers are now incorporating the required electrical infrastructure from the early design phase of new projects.
