Work-Life Balance Becomes a Priority for Romanian Employees in 2025

Balancing personal and professional life has become a top priority for employees, and nearly 63% report managing it better in 2025 compared to previous years.

However, many still believe there’s room for improvement: almost half would prefer a 4-day workweek, according to a survey conducted by Genesis Property in April–May 2025, based on a nationally representative sample of 1,012 respondents.

At the same time, more than half of the respondents (52%) expressed a desire to work on-site at the office at least 3–4 days a week, as 69% stated that recreational and social activities at work positively influence their performance.

To maintain work-life balance, employees most often rely on a flexible schedule (41.4%), team socialization activities (40.8%), and active breaks (37.5%). When it comes to group activities with their colleagues, the majority (42%) said they go for outdoor walks during the day, while 38.3% participate in team buildings or other group initiatives.

In terms of workplace facilities that could support a better work-life balance, most respondents (38.2%) would like additional perks offered by employers (e.g., massage services, fruit, events, training sessions, etc.), relaxation areas (32%), and ergonomic office furniture and personalized workspaces (27.8%).

Genesis Property is committed to fostering this balance in the long term through the final development phase of YUNITY Park—a visionary campus concept created by architect Liviu Tudor, aiming to radically transform the way we work. The first two completed phases attracted investments of over €30 million. The upcoming phase, called Innovation Center, is scheduled to launch within the next 12 months, following an additional €20 million investment.

The survey conducted by Genesis Property sought to explore employees’ desires for achieving a better work-life balance. It was carried out in April–May 2025 via the iVox platform, using a sample of 1,012 internet users from Romania.
