Choosing the right joinery is an essential aspect of new housing projects, and the competition between aluminum and PVC systems remains tight. While PVC dominates the low and mid-range segment, aluminum joinery is gaining ground in the premium market and in large multi-family buildings.
Aluminum offers superior aesthetics, greater resistance to weather conditions, and a long service life with minimal maintenance. Modern profiles with thermal breaks eliminate disadvantages in thermal insulation, while the possibility of powder coating provides a wide range of finishes.
PVC, on the other hand, has the advantage of lower costs and easy installation. Its thermal insulation performance is excellent, especially when combined with triple glazing and multiple seals.
According to a study by the Romanian Association of Thermal Insulation Joinery Manufacturers, in 2024, 61% of residential projects used PVC joinery, while 26% used aluminum. The current trend shows growth in the aluminum segment, particularly in urban projects with high standards of design and energy efficiency.
