3D printing applied in construction is becoming an increasingly attractive solution on the global market and is beginning to be tested in Romania as well. This technology enables the creation of structures from concrete or composite materials through successive layering, reducing execution time and labor costs.

According to a World Economic Forum report, the use of 3D printers in construction can reduce total costs by 20–30% and execution time by up to 60%. A recent example at the European level is the construction of modular 3D houses in the Netherlands and Germany, which has demonstrated the viability of the technology on a large scale.

In Romania, the first pilot projects target the development of social housing and educational modules, in collaboration with technical universities and private companies. The main challenges are related to regulatory frameworks and structural certification, but the long-term potential is significant.

It is estimated that by 2035, 3D printing could become a complementary technology in the construction sector, especially for fast-track projects with limited budgets.
