Decorative plasters serve both as an aesthetic and functional element of a building’s exterior finish. The Romanian market offers several types, each with distinct characteristics and varying costs.
The most commonly used types include: acrylic plasters (resistant to dirt and easy to apply), silicone plasters (excellent for waterproofing and UV resistance), and silicate plasters (highly vapor-permeable, recommended for old buildings or restorations).
According to local manufacturers and distributors, the average prices for decorative plasters range between 25 and 45 lei/m², depending on type, granulation, and brand. The estimated average lifespan is between 10 and 20 years, provided the application is carried out according to instructions and with proper substrate preparation.
A technical report published by the Construction Materials Manufacturers Association shows that silicone plasters retain their properties better in polluted urban environments, while acrylic plasters are more sensitive to extreme temperature variations.
For optimal performance, specialists recommend choosing the plaster type according to the climatic zone, façade exposure, and desired level of maintenance.
