In October of this year, compared to the same month last year, there was a 17% increase in interactions between tenants and those posting rental ads on Storia - the real estate platform launched by OLX.
In October current year, compared to September, the number of contacts decreased, and the ads were displayed on the site for a longer duration (+11%), indicating that those who contacted property owners or agents took more time to complete transactions.
Rental prices on Storia for properties in the 10 analyzed cities, the cities with the most ads on the platform, recorded a year-over-year increase of 16% (October 2023 vs. October 2022), while month-over-month (October 2023 vs. September 2023) prices increased on average by 7%.
How rental prices evolved in Bucharest
Compared to October 2022, in October this year, the average rental prices increased the most (+18%) for three-room apartments, where the average price reached 683 euros. Also, the average price for two-room apartments was 524 euros in October, 16% higher than the same month last year. Meanwhile, the average price for renting studio apartments in the capital increased by 11% compared to October 2022, reaching an average value of 334 euros.
Those who want to rent in Sector 1 of the Capital (the most expensive sector) pay 73% more than those in Sector 4 of Bucharest (the cheapest sector in October). According to the data, apartments in Sector 1 recorded the highest price increase compared to last year (+22%), followed by apartments in Sector 5 (+20%) and those in Sectors 2 and 6 (+15%). The smallest price increases per sector were recorded in Sector 4 (+4%) and Sector 3 (+14%).
In October, the average rents for a studio ranged from 300 euros (in Sector 5) to 400 euros (Sector 1). The average rental prices for two-room apartments ranged from 425 euros (Sector 4) to 650 euros (Sector 1). Three-room apartments had average rental prices ranging from 500 euros (Sectors 4 and 6) to 950 euros (Sector 1).
How rents evolved in other major cities in the country
At the national level, in October of this year, compared to the same month last year, there were exclusively increases in the average price requested for all categories of apartments, with one exception: three-room apartments in Iasi, where the rental price remained similar to last year.
The largest year-over-year increase in the category of average rental prices was recorded in Sibiu, where studio apartments saw an increase of 30%. Among the exceptions are the cities of Timisoara and Constanta, the only ones where prices remained stable in October compared to September, for all categories of apartments. The largest month-to-month increase (October vs. September) was recorded in Sibiu, for three-room apartments (+10%).
CLUJ-NAPOCA
In October of this year, the average prices requested for renting studio apartments remained constant compared to the previous month, while prices for renting two and three-room apartments increased by 4%.
Compared to the same month last year, average rental prices increased by 9% for studios, 12% for three-room apartments, and 15% for two-room apartments.
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 350 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 573 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 730 euros.
IAȘI
Compared to September, the average prices requested in October remained constant for three-room apartments, while the price for two-room apartments increased by 2%, and the price for renting studios increased by 7%.
Compared to October 2022, average requested prices remained unchanged for three-room apartments, increased by 13% for two-room apartments, and by 23% for studios.
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 320 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 450 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 500 euros.
BRAȘOV
In October of this year, compared to the previous month, the average prices requested for renting increased by 1% for three-room apartments, by 4% for two-room apartments, and by 7% for studios.
Compared to the same month last year, rental prices increased, on average, by 9% for three-room apartments and by 19% for studios and two-room apartments.
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 322 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 500 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 600 euros.

In October of this year, the prices for studios and two and three-room apartments remained constant compared to September.
Compared to last year, the average rental price increased by 13% for two-room apartments, by 19% for studios, and by 20% for three-room apartments.
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 300 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 450 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 600 euros.
TIMIȘOARA
In October of this year, the prices for studios and two and three-room apartments remained constant compared to September.
Compared to the same period last year, average rents are higher for studios (+9%), as well as for two-room (+14%) and three-room apartments (13).
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 250 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 400 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 450 euros.
SIBIU
In Sibiu, the average rental prices requested in October of this year recorded increases for studios (9%), two-room apartments (1%), and three-room apartments (10%), compared to September.
Compared to October of last year, average requested rental prices increased for all categories of apartments - by 30% for studios, by 17% for two-room apartments, and by 11% for three-room apartments.
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 300 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 375 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 500 euros.
ORADEA
Compared to September, the average prices requested in October for renting decreased for three-room apartments (-1%), remained constant for two-room apartments, and increased by 1% for studios.
Compared to October of last year, average requested prices increased for studios (+25%), two-room apartments (+17%), and three-room apartments (+21%).
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 200 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 350 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 398 euros.
CRAIOVA
In October of this year, average prices decreased for three-room apartments (-2%), remained constant for two-room apartments, and increased (+4%) for studios.
Compared to October of last year, average requested prices increased for studios (+13%), two-room apartments (+15%), and three-room apartments (+5%).
Thus, in October of this year, the average rental price for studios reached 261 euros, while two-room apartments were rented, on average, for 350 euros, and three-room apartments were rented with an average price of 420 euros.
ARAD
Compared to September, average requested prices in October remained constant for two and three-room apartments, while the price for studios increased by 3%.
Compared to October 2022, average requested prices increased for all categories of housing, as follows: studios (+22%), two-room apartments (+10%), three-room apartments (+14%).
