In December 2023, 2550 building permits were issued for residential buildings (-5.6% compared to November 2023), with a total useful area of 786,693 square meters (+24.3%). Out of the total building permits for residential buildings, 69.3% are for rural areas.

In December 2023, a decrease in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings compared to the previous month was observed (-150 permits). This decrease is reflected in the following development regions: Southeast (-87 permits), South-Muntenia (-68), Center (-58), and Northwest (-52).

Increases were recorded in the following development regions: Southwest Oltenia (+54 permits), Northeast (+38), Bucharest-Ilfov (+14), and West (+9).

In December 2023, 465 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings (-11.6% compared to November 2023), with a total useful area of 413,657 square meters (-13.1%). Compared to the previous month, in December 2023, a decrease in the useful area of building permits issued for non-residential buildings was recorded (-62,435 square meters).

This decrease is reflected in the following development regions:

Southwest Oltenia (-175,857 square meters), Center (-37,926), Northeast (-21,605), Bucharest-Ilfov (-16,213), and West (-1468). Increases were recorded in the following development regions: South-Muntenia (+108,661 square meters), Northwest (+75,824), and Southeast (+6149).

December 2023 compared to December 2022

In December 2023, both the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-5.2%) and the total useful area (-5.7%) decreased compared to December 2022.

This decrease in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-141 permits) is reflected in the following development regions:

Southeast (-104 permits), Northwest (-94), South-Muntenia (-72), and Center (-6). Increases were recorded in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (+54 permits), Southwest Oltenia (+53), West (+18), and Northeast (+10).

Compared to December 2022, in December 2023, there was a decrease in the number of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-17.7%) and an increase in the total useful area (+11.6%). This increase in the useful area of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (+43,086 square meters) is reflected in the following development regions:

Northwest (+75,593 square meters), South-Muntenia (+15,197), Northeast (+11,804), West (+10,781), and Center (+3227). Decreases were recorded in the following development regions: Southwest Oltenia (-29,685 square meters), Southeast (-23,833), and Bucharest-Ilfov (-19,998).
