In 2022, forest exploitation operators reported a 5.6% decrease in the volume of harvested wood compared to 2021.

In 2022, there was a 5.2% decrease in the volume of roundwood harvested compared to 2021.

Of the total volume of roundwood harvested, hardwood species account for the largest share (62.6%), while softwood species cover 37.4%.

Among hardwood species, beech wood has the largest share, representing 32.5% of the total roundwood harvested.

In 2022 compared to 2021, there was a 5.2% decrease in the volume of roundwood, mainly due to the following reasons:

• Softwood species decreased by 11.3%, accounting for 37.4% of the volume of roundwood harvested.
• Hardwood species, taken together, registered a 1.1% decrease and accounted for 62.6% of the volume of roundwood harvested.

The main destination for roundwood was represented by logs, accounting for 45.5%, followed by firewood at 39.6%.
