Fully robotic construction sites: process automation in the construction industry

The construction industry is increasingly adopting robotic technologies to address challenges related to labor shortages, rising costs, and the need to improve productivity. In this context, the concept of the fully robotized construction site is emerging, where a significant share of construction activities is carried out by automated systems or industrial robots.

Robots used on construction sites can perform a wide range of tasks. There are robotic systems specialized in masonry, capable of placing bricks or blocks with high precision and at a consistent pace. Other technologies are used for concrete pouring and finishing, particularly in combination with 3D printing systems or automated formwork equipment.

At the same time, robots are being developed for finishing operations, such as applying plaster, painting walls, or installing certain prefabricated components. These systems are integrated with digital construction management platforms, which coordinate activities based on the digital models of the building.

The use of robots can bring several benefits. First, automating certain activities reduces the risks associated with physically demanding work or tasks performed in difficult conditions. Second, robots can perform repetitive tasks with high precision and minimal variation in quality.

Furthermore, integrating robots with digital design and monitoring systems enables more efficient coordination of construction activities and more accurate planning of project phases.

Although the use of robots in construction is still developing, investments in automation are growing rapidly worldwide. In the future, construction sites could become integrated technological environments, where human teams and robotic systems collaborate to deliver projects faster, safer, and with greater control over construction quality.
